Program Note

Sadie has a mission for herself in life, which is to remove abusive partners in relationships and make sure the spouses are safe and sound.  She wears wigs and makeups to disguise her looks each time. She trains hard and fights harder with s good reason; to track down and kill her abusive ex-husband, who is responsible for the death of their son. As she finally faces him, will she be able to carry out her ultimate task? A Vigilante is a feature debut of Sarah Daggar-Nickson, who puts a fresh spin on a tired (and often masculine) ‘revenge’ genre. Rather than putting the emphasis on showing graphic violence, Ms. Daggar-Nickson operates on more morally precise way with small details and ensuing suspense. And she has a perfect Sadie in Olivia Wilde, who delivers tour de force performance as a woman with a tragic back story becoming a rescuer of fellow victims and daring to go to extremes for her and on their behalf.  (Jongsuk Thomas NAM)
